Desarrollan un cosechador ROV submarino de algas

Seaweed Machines (SWM) is an engineering  firm for the aquaculture industry. The company has worked on developing  harvesting and processing equipment for seaweed, principally for  gracilaria.Their latest technological development is an underwater ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) harvester.

Since last year, SWM and GHT (another  firm supporting the project) have been fine-tuning the system to allow  for remote operation of the harvest machine. Control for the electric  harvester reaches 50 meters and can replace the necessity of scuba  diving.

With this technology, the company affirms, seaweed can be harvested at a more rapid rate and worker safety is increased.
